NCT Universe : LASTART (엔시티 유니버스: 라스트아트) is an upcoming reality survival show created by SM Entertainment. The show is scheduled to premiere on July 27th, 2023 and will air every Thursday. The show will follow the process of creating NCT WISH.[1][2]

Background

On June 30, SM Entertainment revealed that a pre-debut reality show titled NCT Universe : LASTART will be airing on July 27. BoA and Super Junior's Eunhyuk will be 'Artist DIrectors' who will host and be judging the performances as well as other SM artists.[1][2] Members Yushi and Sion from SMROOKIES will be on the show and 4 out the 10 of the trainee contestants will join them and be in the final line-up for NCT WISH.

On July 5, the Mood Teaser was released.[3]

On July 10, the first two trainee contestants Ryo and Riku were revealed.[4][5]

On July 11, trainee contestants Haruta and Kassho were revealed[6][7]

On July 12, trainee contestants Jungmin and Anderson were revealed.[8][9]

On July 13, trainee contestants Minjae and Ryu were revealed.[10][11]

On July 14, trainee contestants Heitetsu and Sakuya were revealed.[12][13]

On July 19, the Main Teaser was released.[14]

On August 17, Daeyoung was revealed to be the new vocal trainee.[15]

On September 7, the final members to debut were revealed as Riku, Sakuya, Daeyoung, Jungmin and Ryo alongside SMROOKIES Sion and Yushi. They will debut as 7 members for NCT WISH.[16]

Missions

First mission

In the first mission, 6 units comprised of 2 trainees performed in front of the artist directors for evaluation. Performances consisted of vocal, dance or a mix of both. SMROOKIES Sion and Yushi weren't evaluated because they are already fixed members for debut.

The 10 trainees were divided into 2 teams of 5 by the New IP TF Team based on their compatibility. Both teams performed these songs with Sion and Yushi.

Third Mission

In the third mission, two japanese hit songs by SM artists were chosen to be performed. These songs were revealed to be "Electric Kiss" by Exo and "Why? (Keep Your Head Down)" by TVXQ!. Daeyoung was added to the show during this mission because both the Artist Directors and New IP TF Team felt that the group was lacking vocalists. The 11 trainees were divided into 2 teams with 5 and 6 trainees by the New IP TF Team based on their compatibility. Both teams performed these songs with Sion and Yushi.

In the fourth and final mission, two NCT subunit songs by SM artists were chosen to be performed. These songs were revealed to be "BOSS" by NCT U and "90's Love" by NCT 127. The 11 trainees were divided into 2 teams of 5 and 6 trainees by the New IP TF Team based on their compatibility. Both teams performed these songs with Sion and Yushi.
